Course Description
Prerequisite: TB clearance requiredExamine historical context, philosophies, and theoretical perspectives of developmentally appropriate practice in early care and education (ECE) for children from birth through age eight, including ethical conduct, career pathways, professional standards, and advocacy. Introduces best practices for developmentally appropriate learning environments, evaluates the key role of relationships and adult-child interactions, curriculum, and effective pedagogy for young children including how play contributes to children's physical, social, emotional, language, and cognitive development. Assesses best practices related to child observations, teaching strategies, and state regulations. TB clearance and 3 observation hours required.
